A private 5G network-enabled innovation lab at the Port of Blyth in the UK’s north east will benefit the offshore renewable energy industry. The lab, funded by over €500,000 from the North East Combined Authority, aims to drive growth and innovation in key sectors like offshore wind. Businesses will have access to dedicated innovation facilities and equipment for testing 5G-based products, fostering a collaborative ecosystem and generating skilled jobs within the region. The project also involves local organizations to help businesses scale up, innovate, and access funding for 5G innovation. Educational institutions like Bede College and Advance Northumberland will integrate digitally skilled curriculum for STEM students and industry-specific training.
