PowerChina's Redstone CSP plant in South Africa achieved grid connection, providing 480 GWh of clean energy per year to Eskom under a 20-year PPA. The project uses advanced molten salt storage technology with 41,260 heliostats reflecting sunlight onto the solar tower's heat receiver. The stored molten salt enables 12 hours of full-load operation, making it the first molten salt solar thermal tower plant in sub-Saharan Africa at Siyanda district. ACWA Power, owning 49% of the plant, is a major shareholder.
