Qcells builds pilot line for perovskite-silicon tandem PV cells in South Korea

In November 2022, a research project started in Thalheim, Germany, to manufacture highly efficient tandem solar cells and modules. Qcells and European research institutes are involved in the Pepperoni project. Hanwha Solutions plans to invest $100 million in a pilot production line for perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells in South Korea. Qcells CEO Justin Lee announced the investment in Jincheon. The collaboration between Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin and Qcells achieved a tandem cell with up to 29.3% efficiency rate.
