Queensland Hydro picks contractors for 2-GW pumped storage project

Queensland Hydro, an Australian developer of pumped hydro energy storage assets, awarded contracts worth roughly AUD 80 million for the development of a 2-GW project in Queensland. Water2Wire, a joint venture of GHD, Mott MacDonald, and Stantec, was selected for the design engineering services. AFRY-Aurecon, a JV of AFRY AB and Aurecon, will deliver front-end engineering design for the project. Borumba pumped storage hydro complex is set to be installed west of the Sunshine Coast at a cost of AUD 14.2 billion.
