The Australian state of Queensland has initiated the A$5 billion 'CopperString' transmission project to connect renewable energy sources with critical minerals mining. The project aims to unlock 6GW of renewable energy capacity and accelerate the state's renewable energy intake towards a 70% target by 2032. It will establish Hughenden as the central location and transform North and North West Queensland by creating jobs, mining opportunities, and unlocking critical minerals essential for renewable technologies. Additionally, Queensland plans to develop 12 Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) to add 22GW of renewable energy capacity by 2035.
