Quinbrook’s polysilicon project starts feedstock drilling

The Quartz Hill project in North Queensland, Australia, is being explored by Australian Silica Quartz Group (ASQ) to produce metallurgical grade silicon (MGSi) necessary for Quinbrook's polysilicon plant in Townsville. The project contains 17.3Mt of MGSi quartz at 99.04% silicon dioxide. Quinbrook has acquired exclusive rights to purchase 10 million tonnes of MGSi quartz from the project. Robert Johansen from Minerals at Private Energy Partners commented on the potential to support a large scale polysilicon plant at Lansdown.
