Renewables cover 56% of Germany's electricity consumption in Q1 2024

In the first quarter of 2024, renewable energy facilities in Germany generated approximately 75.9 billion kWh of electricity, accounting for 56% of the country's power consumption, a 9% increase from the previous year. The main contributors were onshore wind parks, hydropower, biomass, photovoltaics, and offshore wind. The Federal Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) emphasized the positive trend in renewable energy expansion and the necessity for swift action to meet climate targets.
