Renewables provided more than half of Germany’s consumption

Germany set a new record with renewable energy generation covering around 58% of its electricity consumption in the first half of 2024. The expansion of renewable energies plays a central role in Germany's efforts to meet climate goals and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Various sources such as onshore wind, photovoltaics, biomass, hydropower, offshore wind, and municipal waste contributed to the renewable energy mix.
