RWE reaches FID on Australia’s first long-duration lithium-ion battery storage project

RWE will proceed with an 8-hour duration large-scale battery storage project adjacent to their existing Limondale Solar Farm in New South Wales. The project has a capacity of 50MW/400MWh and is part of the NSW Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap. The Limondale BESS will be located in the NSW South West Renewable Energy Zone and will use Tesla Megapack battery solutions. Beon Energy Solutions will provide balance of plant equipment. The project is part of a Long-Term Energy Service Agreement with the NSW government. Additionally, NSW has launched a new tender for long-duration energy storage projects.
