The research team from UNSW studied failure modes in heterojunction (HJT) solar modules with glass-backsheet configurations. Four failure modes were identified, leading to power losses. The study focused on encapsulated cells and found causes such as surface contamination, soldering flux, and EVA byproducts. Understanding and mitigating these failure modes at the cell level is crucial for optimizing HJT technology.
