Solar dominates new US capacity

Solar energy dominated new capacity additions in the US in the first quarter of 2024, accounting for nearly 87% of all new capacity. Solar and wind combined now represent more than a fifth of the nation’s installed utility-scale generating capacity. Installed utility-scale solar has surpassed nuclear power in share of generating capacity.
