Solar for railway signaling sites

The Australian federal government-owned Australian Rail Track Corp. (ARTC) will use ground-mounted solar arrays with battery energy storage to power over 80 signaling sites along the Inland Rail line. This initiative aims to save costs by eliminating the need for mains power and reducing operational electricity expenses. The switch to solar power backed by battery storage is estimated to result in a significant AUD 25 million cost reduction for the project.
