Researchers at the School of Environmental and Sustainability Engineering of Universidad Mayor in Chile observed that native birds use solar parks as a refuge. They conducted research at the La Colonia solar park in Buin, Chile, built by IM2 Solar Chile and Enel Green Power. The study showed positive impacts on the ecosystem due to shade, refuge effect, and soil rest. The lead author, César Mattar, developed a management plan to conserve birdlife based on the reproductive cycles of species. A cooperation agreement was formed between IM2 Solar and Universidad Mayor to advance training, R&D, and innovation programs, including birdlife management in solar plants.
