Solarwatt, a German PV module manufacturer, is set to close its 300 MW solar panel factory in Dresden by August due to the financial strain of maintaining production in Germany. CEO Detlef Neuhaus cites the recent decline in module prices as the core reason for the shutdown. Despite the closure, efforts will be made to reassign approximately 190 affected employees within the company. Additionally, a small team will remain to focus on quality and development, potentially allowing for a rapid scale-up of production if market conditions improve.
