Spain basks in 7.5 GW of solar PV added in 2023 - UNEF

Spain added 7,489 MWac of new solar photovoltaic capacity in 2023, becoming the second-largest solar market in Europe after Germany. The sector contributed over EUR 18 billion to Spain's GDP and employed over 160,000 workers. The industry invested significantly in innovation and R&D. Despite facing challenges, such as regional disparities in regulatory support, the sector sees growth opportunities and aims to match solar PV generation with energy storage capacity.
