Spain's Galicia region approves EUR-1.8bn wind power boom

The government of the Spanish region of Galicia approved the construction of nearly 70 wind farms with an investment of over EUR 1.8 billion. These projects will see the installation of 1,824.6 MW of new generation capacity. Galicia's government managed to meet the deadline for construction licences for wind and renewable energy projects by streamlining its permitting process. Madrid is scheduled to issue construction licences for three wind farm projects in Galicia that will supply electricity to Alcoa Corp's aluminium production complex San Ciprian.
