Norwegian power producer Statkraft A/S plans to build two 77-MW solar plants in the Valencian Community, Spain. The company offers local farmers the opportunity to co-invest in the projects. The projects, named Los Predios and Los Hierros, represent an investment of over EUR 120 million. Statkraft signed an agreement with Valencian farmers association AVA-ASAJA for investment. The company has made a similar offer to the agricultural cooperatives in Turis. The Turis Town Hall opposes the solar farms but acknowledges central government's control over energy project permitting. Statkraft plans to use 434 hectares of land, with 18% for solar panels and the rest for agrivoltaic activities. 115 hectares will be for biodiversity conservation. Environmental approval has been received, and construction is expected to start in the second half of 2025.
