Spanish island Menorca investing in 18MWh of distributed battery storage

The Council of Menorca in Spain's Balaeric islands is investing €24 million in solar PV, distributed battery energy storage systems, and EV chargepoints as part of its energy transition plan for the next four years. The investments align with Menorca 2030 Strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The plan includes 9.24MWp of solar PV, BESS technology deployment, and creating local energy communities. Mainland Spain is also witnessing growth in grid-scale energy storage market.
