SSE acquires Northern Irish BESS project

SSE Renewables has announced the acquisition of the Derrymeen 100MW/200MWh battery storage project, set to be the largest in Northern Ireland. Located near Dungannon, construction depends on final investment decisions and could start early next year. The project aims to support over 135,000 homes during peak demands, promoting the transition to net zero by storing surplus renewable energy.
