SSE Renewables' 443-MW Viking wind farm in Shetland has produced first power. Shetland is to be fully connected to the British grid with a subsea cable project. The wind farm and the HVDC project are to be completed this summer. Viking is expected to be the UK's most productive onshore wind farm with an annual electricity production of 1.8 TWh.
