German municipal utility SWS Stadtwerke Stralsund announced the construction of a solar thermal plant in Stralsund, set to be the third largest in Germany. The plant, covering an area of five soccer pitches, will be constructed by Viessmann Climate Solutions SE, a subsidiary of Carrier Global. It is expected to produce 11 GWh of heat and meet over 10% of the district heating needs in the Knieper/Gruenhufe area. The facility is planned to be operational by mid-2025.
