Research suggests that many countries, particularly in Africa, the Caribbean, South America, and Central Asia, could potentially meet a significant portion of their electricity needs through floating solar panels. The study evaluated the energy generation potential of floating photovoltaics on numerous lakes and reservoirs worldwide, highlighting specific nations like Benin, Ethiopia, Kiribati, Rwanda, and Papua New Guinea that could fulfill their entire electricity requirements with this technology. Despite the benefits, further research is required to assess the environmental and ecological impacts of deploying floating solar arrays.
