Tendering underway for Eastern Green Link 3 (EGL3) HVDC connection project linking Peterhead in Scotland and Norfolk in England. EGL3, a joint venture between SSEN Transmission and National Grid Electricity Transmission, plans to transfer renewable power from north Scotland to UK demand centres via a 680km route. The project aims to provide a 2GW bi-pole, 525kV HVDC link using latest technology for efficient transmission. Part of SSEN's Pathway to 2030 programme, EGL3 is UK's largest HVDC transmission project supporting national net zero and energy security targets. Invitations to tender for cable and converter work packages released to market for project delivery by 2033.
