Scientists at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands have developed a simplified optical filter for passive thermal management of interdigitated back-contact (IBC) photovoltaic panels. The filter utilizes two materials, silicon nitride (SiNX) and silicon dioxide (SiO2), with calibrated thickness to achieve high reflectance values. The research team assessed the filter's impact on operational cell temperature in different locations and concluded that it extended the lifetime of PV modules and improved DC energy yield.
