UK installs 647 MW of solar in H1

In the first three months of 2024, more solar capacity was added to the UK generation mix than all other renewables combined. The UK Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) quarterly energy report shows that solar accounted for 60% of the newly installed renewables capacity in Q1 2024. Total solar capacity at the end of June 2024 was 16.9 GW across 1,595,916 installations. The report also highlights the need for greater uptake in the commercial sector to leverage the potential of commercial and industrial rooftops.
