Ukraine: An adviser to Zelenskiy backtracks on statements about stopping Russian oil transit

An adviser to the Ukrainian presidential administration, Mihailo Podoliak, initially stated that the Drujba oil pipeline would stop transit of Russian oil to Europe by January 1, 2025, but later backtracked on this. The Drujba pipeline, connecting Russia to various European countries, has faced tensions between Kiev, Budapest, and Bratislava over oil supply issues. The EU had exempted the Drujba pipeline from a ban on Russian oil imports but later included it in the ban due to escalating disputes.
