United Kingdom breaks 16 GW barrier for solar deployment

Installed solar capacity in the United Kingdom reached 16.8 GW in May 2024. Residential installations accounted for majority of capacity added in May 2024. New capacity in the first five months of 2024 was split between small and large installations. The UK needs 70 GW of solar energy capacity by 2035 to align with net zero targets.
