United Kingdom closes in on 16 GW installed solar capacity

The United Kingdom's solar capacity has reached 15.9 GW, with new installations primarily consisting of small-scale systems. Ground-mounted solar accounts for 49% of the capacity, including solar farms accredited on Contracts for Difference. The UK government has a target of 70 GW installed solar capacity by 2035. Mark Sommerfeld from the Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology emphasizes the need for accelerated solar deployment to meet the target.
