US DOE’s Loan Programs Office to support Puerto Rico utility-scale solar PV and BESS

Puerto Rico's electricity supply network is being reinvented with the support of a loan from the US Department of Energy for solar PV and battery energy storage projects. The projects aim to improve grid reliability and energy security, especially during extreme weather events. Project Maharu, funded by various federal initiatives, includes utility-scale solar-plus-storage and standalone BESS projects in Puerto Rico's Guayama and Salinas municipalities.
