Engineers from the University of Michigan have developed OptoGPT, a new algorithm for designing optical multilayer film structures such as solar cells. OptoGPT utilizes a unique approach to design structures with fewer layers while maximizing light absorption. The algorithm operates by treating materials as words and encoding optical properties as inputs. The corresponding author, L.
