US manufacturer Toledo Solar ceases operations

Toledo Solar, a US solar manufacturer, has gone out of business, ending all research and development efforts and operations. The company faced challenges in licensing technology for manufacturing CdTe panels. The Toledo Solar Board voted to cease operations due to hurdles in a different business model. Tom Pratt, interim president, treasurer, and secretary, will oversee the decommissioning of Toledo's facility. First Solar brought a lawsuit against Toledo Solar for reselling old modules as their own product. Toledo Solar settled the lawsuit while announcing a focus on producing hardened panels for harsh weather environments.
