The US Department of Energy plans to disburse up to $100 million to fund pilot-scale, long-duration energy storage projects utilizing non-lithium technologies, targeting projects with over 10 hours discharge capacity. The initiative aims to provide financial support for 3-15 projects with a cost share requirement. The involvement of various stakeholders is encouraged to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
