Scientists from the University of New South Wales, SMA Australia, and Gentari Solar Australia demonstrated a new daylight photoluminescence imaging method for photovoltaic systems using commercially available inverters. This method allows quick and effective performance monitoring without special hardware adjustments and is applicable to both rooftop and large-scale systems. The technique, demonstrated in both rooftop and utility-scale settings, leverages inverter-based switching to capture high-resolution images that facilitate the detection of defects in solar modules.
