V2G tech can provide outage support, claim Australian researchers

A five-year study led by ANU's Dr. Bjorn Sturmberg in Canberra demonstrates electric vehicles' ability to provide backup to the power grid during emergencies. The study showed 16 EVs feeding power back into the grid during a major outage in February 2024. Sturmberg highlighted the potential of EVs as 'big batteries on wheels' and the need to balance EV charging demand with grid security. He emphasized the benefits of vehicle-to-grid systems in stabilizing the power system during emergencies.
