Van Oord has enhanced its heavy lift vessel, Svanen, by adding a massive 1,200-tonne A-framed gantry extension, raising its total height to 125 metres and making it one of the world's largest heavy-lift vessels. Constructed by Holland Shipyard and installed with one of the largest cranes at Mammoet Schiedam, the upgrade also includes modernised lifting hooks to increase lifting capacity from 3,000 tonnes to 4,500 tonnes and structural modifications for new hammer sizes. Slated to be operational by Q3 2024, these enhancements prepare the Svanen for next-generation monopile installations in offshore wind projects.
