Verbund acquires 110MW Italian PV portfolio at ‘advanced stage of development’

Austrian utility Verbund has acquired a 110MV solar portfolio in Lazio, central Italy, from Ke-Reninvestment, a subsidiary of Turkish investor Kinesis Enerji. Verbund notes that around 95% of its power comes from renewable energy sources, with a focus on hydropower. The Italian solar sector has seen significant investments, including a joint venture by Elawan Energy to build 2GW of capacity. Despite bans on new agrivoltaics projects in Italy, there is potential for Europe to increase solar output.
