Viking achieves first power

The milestone has been achieved at the 443MW Viking wind farm on Shetland island, Scotland. The wind farm is set to be fully connected to the GB electricity transmission grid for the first time with the Shetland High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) subsea cable project. Engineers are working towards full power generation later in summer 2024, making it the UK’s most productive onshore wind farm.
