Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE conducted a study on the thermal effect of a 3.2 kW VIPV system in a refrigerated truck, finding that solar power easily offsets the energy demand of the PV system itself. The study considered various parameters affecting the energy balance and concluded that sufficient battery storage could satisfy the energetic needs of the cooling unit throughout the year. However, the team highlighted the complexity of modeling such systems due to numerous variables.
