Volkswagen enters C&I energy storage business with Elli

With demand for energy storage systems in Europe expected to soar, Volkswagen Group diversifies its business by entering the commercial and industrial energy storage space through its brand Elli. Elli, together with partners, will develop massive industrial-scale battery energy storage systems to be operational by next year. The projects aim to supply customers and engage in arbitrage transactions on the electricity market, potentially doubling Germany's total storage capacity. Board Member Thomas Schmall highlights the need for storage solutions to meet increasing demand and volatile renewable energies feed-in.
