Wacker to expand polysilicon production in Germany

Germany-based Wacker Chemie plans to expand its semiconductor-grade polysilicon production capacity in Burghausen, Germany. The company aims to set up a new production line by early 2025 to increase production capacity by over 50%, involving a capital investment of more than €300 million. Wacker received approval from the European Commission for an R&D funding project. The CEO, Christian Hartel, mentioned the importance of the project for Europe's microelectronics supply chain and the semiconductor sector.
