Greece's revised National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) leads to an imbalanced renewable energy mix, according to the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (HWEA). The plan calls for 13.5 GW of solar installations by 2030 and 8.9 GW of onshore wind farms plus another 1.9 GW in offshore wind. HWEA highlights the need for a 60-40 mix between wind energy and solar power for optimal results. The association discusses the benefits of correcting the imbalance in NECP, which includes fewer curtailments, increased green electricity exports, and reduced energy costs for consumers. HWEA also addresses the issue of fake news and conspiracy theories surrounding wind energy in Greece, emphasizing the importance of public promotion of wind energy and priority licensing for projects with high potential.
