'Windiest part of the UK' could power nearly 500,000 homes. Power is flowing from the Shetland Isles to mainland Britain for the first time as the UK's most productive onshore windfarm, known as Viking, comes on stream. SSE's 103-turbine project can generate 443 megawatts of electricity. Chief executive Alistair Phillips-Davies highlights the urgent need for renewable energy infrastructure to meet climate change targets.
