Serbia's energy sector has seen significant progress in the last two years, with Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović highlighting developments such as the upcoming construction of the 646 MW pumped storage hydropower plant Bistrica. The country has reduced its electricity imports while increasing coal production. The integration into the EU's single electricity market is expected to bring strategic advantages. Energy Community Secretariat Director Artur Lorkowski emphasized the importance of market coupling and collective energy stability for the Western Balkans.
