Bulgaria gives green light to solar cell, panel factory

Bulgaria’s Council of Ministers signed an agreement with Turkey’s Smart Solar Technologies AD to construct a new solar cell and panel factory in Elenino village, southern Bulgaria. The project, designated as a priority investment, will create 812 new jobs. Smart Solar Technologies will invest BGN 240 million in assets and receive a €34 million grant. The company's website states it has 2.9 GW of solar module production capacity and exports to 19 countries.
