French PV manufacturing startup Carbon has reached a draft agreement with French energy giant EDF Renewables for the acquisition of fellow French manufacturer Photowatt. The acquisition aims to complement Carbon’s plan to build a vertically integrated PV manufacturing plant in France. Photowatt will be integrated into Carbon’s solar PV manufacturing project, including the construction of a module assembly plant with an annual capacity of 500MW. The agreement also involves an investment plan of €40 million to expand Photowatt's workforce by 200 new jobs. Carbon plans to accelerate its commercial presence in France with this acquisition and aims to produce n-type technology solar cells in their plant.
