Court annuls environmental permit for Drina hydropower project

The construction of the HPP Foča and HPP Buk Bijela on the Drina river faces significant delays and legal challenges due to environmental concerns and procedural shortcomings. The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina annulled the environmental permit for HPP Foča, and a similar outcome is expected for HPP Buk Bijela. Aarhus Centre and CEE Bankwatch Network are key stakeholders challenging the projects, alongside intergovernmental concerns between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
