The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has initiated investigations into solar cell imports from Southeast Asia under the antidumping and countervailing duty (AD/CVD) tariffs. The investigations are focused on solar products from Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. The American Alliance for Solar Manufacturing Trade Committee raised a petition citing illegal trade practices by these countries. The US has introduced waivers to delay the tariffs on Southeast Asian solar products. The International Trade Commission (ITC) will determine by June 10th if the imports are causing harm to the US industry. The tariffs could lead to a bottleneck in the US solar cell supply. The ITA reported significant solar product imports from the mentioned countries with high alleged dumping rates.
