Electricity prices rose in all major European markets last week. Prices increased across Belgian, British, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Nordic, Portuguese, and Spanish markets with the highest increase in the Belgian and French markets. The Italian market had the smallest increase. Weekly average prices were above €75/MWh in most markets, with Italy having the highest average price. The Dutch and German markets recorded the highest hourly prices. AleaSoft attributed the price rises to increasing gas prices, higher electricity demand, and lower wind energy production. Solar energy production varied across regions with increases in Germany and decreases in Spain and Portugal. Further price increases are forecasted for most markets in the first week of September.
