The Faculty of Biology at the University of Belgrade issued a statement regarding Rio Tinto's drafts of environmental impact assessment studies for the Jadar lithium mining project. Dean Ljubiša Stanisavljević and a research team of experts signed the statement. The faculty collaborated with SGS Beograd on the impact report. Key findings emphasized the significant impact on biodiversity and recommended abandoning the project to prevent negative consequences. The final report was labelled as a business secret, but essential data was presented at a conference. Cambridge-based consultants reviewed the report. The Faculty of Biology disclaimed responsibility for conclusions in drafts that did not match the final report.
