France saw a significant increase in solar photovoltaic (PV) installations, adding 1 GW of capacity in the first quarter of 2024. The country now has a cumulative installed capacity of 21.1 GW. A total of 59,366 solar farms contributed to the grid, with a notable rise in new deployments. The regions with the highest capacity additions were Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitania, and Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes. Despite the growth, the national power consumption from photovoltaics experienced a slight decline to 2.9% in the first quarter of 2024. France currently has 27.3 GW of solar projects in the pipeline, including 6.3 GW of schemes with secured grid-connection agreements.
